Roundtop Park Community Update

August 20, 2026

The Kinston Metropolitan District is aware of recent resident concerns regarding an individual spending extended periods of time at Roundtop Park. District management has been coordinating directly with the Loveland Police Department (LPD) and other community partners in response.

Current Status

LPD made contact with the individual at Roundtop Park on August 20. As of that afternoon, the individual was no longer at the park.

LPD has also made its night patrol team aware of the concerns and plans to conduct additional checks of Roundtop Park, including during overnight hours.

Park Hours and Rules

Roundtop Park is open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Camping and remaining in the park outside of established park hours are prohibited.

District management will continue coordinating with LPD regarding appropriate enforcement if violations of park rules are observed.

The hammocks at Roundtop Park have also been temporarily removed while the District evaluates the situation.

What Residents Should Do

Residents should not approach or confront individuals based solely on concerns about their presence in the park.

If you observe activity that appears to violate park rules or otherwise causes concern, please contact the Loveland Police Department non-emergency line. If there is an immediate threat to safety or an emergency, please call 911.

Next Steps

The District is reviewing existing park signage, rules, and enforcement procedures to determine whether additional measures may be appropriate. The matter is also expected to be discussed by the Kinston Metropolitan District Board at its September 10, 2026 meeting.

The District appreciates residents who have brought concerns forward and will continue working with LPD and community partners to support the safe and appropriate use of Roundtop Park.
